Creation Myth
By Jessie Bullens-Crewe

At first there was darkness, then the Gods came. A Korean god, a French god, an American god, a Chinese god, an Australian god, an African god, a Japanese god, a Canadian god and a Dutch god.

Each of the gods carried a marble ? some big, some small, some medium. They each placed one in their own place in the universe. They shrunk themselves and lived there.

One day the greatest god of them all, Acoomi, came and decided that they, too, should have names. The American god was called Alcied, the Japanese was called Ism, the Korean was Kinya, the Chinese was Alqua, the Canadian Mashu, the Australian was Emo, the Dutch was Higo, the African was Jamal, the French was Kalsae.

After awhile they got lonely. The Chinese made more Chinese, the Korean made more Koreans, the Australian made more Australians, the Dutch made more Dutch, and so on. Then they found that it was not so fun on each of their marbles, or planets, with just their own people. They wanted to visit and see if they could live with other kinds of people.

They decided to visit different planets whenever they felt like seeing someone different. That worked out well, because even though they didn't all speak the same language, they made friends anyway.

Soon they wanted to live on this one planet, which was small, but nice and green, with lots of fresh water. So they decided to move to that one planet.

Then they became restless from not being able to understand one another, and they started having wars against the different kinds of people. And this their gods did not like.

And so they sent for the greatest god of them all. The greatest god said, "If they all want to live on the same planet, and they're having all kinds of wars, why don't we separate them to live in different parts of their world?"

The other gods agreed, and said, "That would be nice, but if they did still want to see each other from time to time, they'd have to learn each other's languages, like we have. And we will teach them how."

So that is what they did.

Now that the people were visiting each other again they wanted something they could impress their visiting guests with: not a human, but something living. So they each asked their god to create something that was not a person, but a living thing.

That is how the animals were created. The Canadians had grizzly bear, the Americans had dog, the Japanese had pig, and the Chinese had cat. The Africans had monkey, the French had sheep, the Australians had lizard, the Dutch had koala, and the Koreans had lion.

And so whenever they had visitors they impressed them with their special creatures.

And then out of nowhere came the Italian, another kind of person that no god had created. It was a miracle. The other people didn't know what to do. Would they have to have war again and again and again, or would they prove friendly? But after all the wars that they had, they decided not to have war against them. And they did prove friendly, so they decided to live with them.
